How to review product pages for missing details

A practical, manual way to spot information that may need attention, decide what applies to each product, and record the next step clearly.

Manual guide

CartKestrel does not currently inspect live listings. You carry out each review in your own shop and record any follow-up; this guide does not indicate that CartKestrel checked a product page.

In this guide

  1. Choose pages to review
  2. Compare relevant details
  3. Decide what needs attention
  4. Keep a follow-up record
01

Choose product pages and options to review

Pick a defined group, such as one collection or a handful of recently updated products. Note the review date and which product pages you included so you can return to the same scope later.

Open each page as a shopper would. If a product has options that change its description or specifications, note which options you checked and review the relevant versions separately.

02

Compare details that are relevant to the product

Compare the page with your current, approved product information. Depending on what you sell, details to consider might include:

  • Product name, model, or selected option
  • Measurements, materials, ingredients, or other specifications
  • Fit, compatibility, care, or use information
  • What is included, where that helps explain the offer
  • Images or captions that clarify which version is shown
Use examples as prompts, not a universal checklist

These are examples only. A detail may not apply to your product, and this list does not define required fields. Check information against a source you trust for that item; mark anything uncertain for follow-up instead of guessing.

03

Decide what needs attention

For each detail that matters to the product, note whether it is present and current, missing, or unclear. If it does not apply or is intentionally not shown, record that decision when it will help someone understand the review later.

Separate a confirmed omission from information you still need to verify. This keeps an open question from turning into an unconfirmed product claim or an edit based on a guess.

04

Keep a clear record and close the loop

Keep one note for each product detail that needs checking or completing. A shared sheet, task list, or another system your shop already uses can hold fields such as:

Product and page
Product name, product-page address, and selected option if relevant
Detail to review
What appears incomplete, unclear, or in need of confirmation
Current information
What the page says now, or what could not be found
Reference and next step
Where to confirm the detail and the proposed update or follow-up
Owner and date
Who will follow up and when the item was reviewed
Status and recheck
For example: to check, ready to update, updated, or rechecked

After an update, revisit the same page and any relevant options. Record what you checked and when, and leave unresolved details open with a clear next step.
